Chicago-based business leader Hirsh Mohindra is renowned for his international expertise in project management, financial analysis, and market research in several industry segments, including healthcare, real estate, transportation, logistics, hospitality, and energy (oil and gas). He has carved out a proven track record in successfully navigating complex markets for organizational growth, as well as providing value and fostering innovative collaborations. Various companies throughout his career turned to Hirsh for his expertise, insight, vision, and results. For example, in the healthcare space, he provided strategic leadership and direction to diagnostic laboratories to deliver high-quality patient care. In addition, he was instrumental in implementing operational efficiencies and process improvements that enhanced patient outcomes, reduced wait times, and optimized resource utilization.

Success in the Real Estate Sector

Since the early 2000s, Hirsh has found tremendous success in the real estate industry in several areas, including acquisitions, investments, and property management.

Hirsh was a lead investor and advisor to real estate developers with residential and commercial projects throughout Miami, Florida; North Carolina; Chicago, Illinois; and other U.S. markets. The properties Hirsh invested in and advised on included mixed-use multifamily, luxury waterfront residential homes, and wide-scale, mixed-use assets with international tenants. Hirsh was also an investor in a leading storage and warehouse developer with projects throughout the U.S.

For six years during the mid-2010s, Hirsh served as a principal manager of financial instruments. There, he harnessed his expertise to oversee the acquisition and disposal of residential real estate mortgages, note portfolios, and consumer debt portfolios. A metrics maven, he was also responsible for the firm’s finances, which included budget development, revenue cycle management, and financial reporting. Hirsh performed market research to provide insightful analysis to pinpoint profitable development prospects while also minimizing risk.

Additionally, his financial analysis, research, and due diligence were crucial in evaluating potential acquisitions, which led to the growth and expansion. Hirsh assessed deal data and metrics for senior management and strategic partners that detailed prospective real estate developments’ financial viability and strategic fit.

He initially cemented his stellar reputation in the real estate sector as principal of Aura Development from 2002 to 2012, where he managed the development of more than 200 residential and commercial properties in the Chicago market. His negotiation abilities were critical in acquisition, financing, and partnership arrangements. 

Always looking to keep one step ahead, Hirsh kept his pulse on the market, monitoring trends and performing competitive analysis to identify emerging opportunities and risks in target markets for Aura Development. He also collaborated with various legal, finance, and operations teams to execute real estate transactions and asset management strategies. Additionally, he led the development of commercial and residential projects from inception to completion, overseeing all aspects, including site acquisition, feasibility analysis, design, construction, and sales/marketing.

Getting His Foot in the Door: Hospitality Experience

Hirsh’s professional career began in hospitality, where he was a principal at Peacock Hospitality for several years. His responsibilities included developing and managing multiple hotel properties throughout the U.S. He negotiated contracts with architects, engineers, contractors, and vendors to ensure they met project deadlines and budgets. 

When donning his marketing hat, he implemented strategies to drive sales and maximize ROI, including spearheading digital marketing campaigns and establishing key strategic partnerships and relationships with investors, local government officials, and community members.

Hirsh Mohindra graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administration from Benedictine University in Lisle, Illinois.

Hirsh’s Down Time

When he is not busy growing and expanding businesses, he loves to play tennis, read, and travel. As a young kid, he was drawn to tennis, playing and regularly watching matches. His passion for the game continues today as he takes to the court with his two children and friends. The game’s social aspect and physicality make it the ideal sport for Hirsh and his family.

Traveling has always been in his blood, and when he can, he takes the opportunity to travel with his kids.

Community Minded

Hirsh is actively involved with charities across the U.S., specifically in Chicago and Miami. He supports a charity called Shower Up, which provides hygienic support for the homeless communities in several major cities. The organization offers clean, safe, and comfortable mobile shower units to the poor, the unhoused, and the transitional in U.S. cities. Hirsh is also a large benefactor to the Hindu temple of greater Chicago in their quest to spread peace and harmony within the Hindu community in the Chicagoland area.
